Capacity building in Smart and Innovative eNERGY management

Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Simulation Method, IEEE PES GM 2021

As scientific dissemination, the activities in the “SINERGY” project with a specific focus on Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation methods will be presented at the IEEE PES GM. The PES Task Force “Innovative teaching methods for modern power and energy systems" already approved a 10-15 min slot within the TF meeting in which we will present our indented work. This applies for the TF meetings at the IEEE PES GM 2021 and 2022, respectively.

Integrated Energy Value Chains, CIBEK 2021, Belgrade, Serbia

The Circular Economy is the conceptual framework of sustainable development. Its goal is the production of goods and services while at the same time reducing the consumption and wastage of raw materials, water and energy sources. It is about implementing a new economy that is circular – not linear – based on the principle of “closing the loop” of the lifecycles of products, services, waste, materials, water and energy.

Emerging Technologies for Power Electronics Systems in Smart Grids

This course addresses the role of wide bandgap semiconductors for power electronics will be introduced. Furthermore, basic principles of these semiconductors but also IGBTs and MOSFETs will be discussed. Drivers and challenges regarding power electronics and integration as well as a more global perspective on this technology will address the potential of this technology.

Simulation and modelling of Power Converters and Power Conversation Systems

Simulation and modeling of Power Converters and Power Conversation Systems

Lecturer: DI Zoran Miletić, AIT

Starting with a recap of “Control of grid power converters for Photovoltaic applications” the course provides insight in real-time simulation of power converters and implementation of algorithms which have been discussed in theory.

Grid power converters, architecture and design considerations

In this workshop, attendees will get initial insights in the PLECs power electronics simulation tool for modelling and simulating power electronics converters. Furthermore, knowledge on analysis and simulation from lecture 1 will be extended AC/DC multi-phase systems including also state-of-the-art three-phase power electronic circuits for renewable energy systems. Also, single phase AC/DC inverters for PV-applications will be discussed. Moreover, input and output filter design issues will be addressed.

Report on Dissemination and Promotional Activities

The paramount objectives of WP6 are (1) promoting the newly established SINERGY Regional Centre of Excellence in smart energy management; (2) raising awareness about the SINERGY key exploitable results; (3) outreach and engagement with different types of stakeholders including the wider public.

While the focus of the first two WP6 reports delivered in the first reporting period by month six was:
